Coming Together (1977) and Love Scene (1980)

COMING TOGETHER (1977) and LOVE SCENE (1980) by Elaine Marcus Starkman. Sheer Press.

Starkman is a California poet who, at 36, went back to school to get an MA in English. Her poems reflect her personal struggle, like that of many women her age, to balance work with the pressures and pleasures of raising a family. She writes about Jewish tradition, modern Israel and family relationships. She calls herself a part of “a generation/ seeking traditions/transforming symbols/Jewish women/not yet ourselves.”
