Hannukah begins tonight. This year, we are especially conscious of the illuminating complexities of this holiday as reflected in our present moment. As we light the Hanukiah each night, we'll be accompanied by our sadness, fear, joy, and exhaustion. We can and we must carry it all. May our empathy and fierce commitment to life endure like the oil central to the Hannukah miracle.
