Lilith’s 2024 Fiction Contest

December 31, 2024 All day

Gifted fiction writers! Lilith magazine—independent, Jewish & frankly feminist—seeks quality short stories with heart, soul, and chutzpah, 3,000 words or under, for our Annual Fiction Contest.

  • Open September 1–December 31.
  • First prize: $300 and publication.
  • We especially like fresh fiction with feminist and Jewish nuance and are eager to read submissions from writers of color and emerging writers of any age.

Submit to info@lilith.org with the subject line “Fiction Contest” and your surname. Include full contact information on the manuscript.

Looking for examples of short fiction we love? Check out Lilith magazine’s first-ever book, Frankly Feminist: Short Stories by Jewish Women, a curated collection of 40+ short stories from our 45+ years of publication. These are among the most moving, startling and beautifully written pieces Lilith has run, and some read as if they’re ripped from today’s headlines. The voices in Frankly Feminist have plenty to say about how we live now. They are neither meek nor decorous. They speak with anger and humor, tenderness and rue, self-recrimination and howls of victory.
