After Hurricane Mitch, Central America needs help for its 2.8 million newly homeless. In Honduras, mudslides and floods destroyed 70% of the roads and bridges; development has been set back 20 years, the U.N. reports. Malnutrition and cholera threaten survivors in El Salvador and Nicaragua, where 80% of the staple bean, rice, banana and coffee crops were ruined.
