The Third Wave

Activism Is alive and well at the Third Wave Foundation, a five-year-old national organization founded to empower and Inform young feminist activists through grantmaking, public education campaigns and networking. “We do more than talk about world peace In an evening gown,” says a recent mailing. Thirteen women, their ages ranging from 16 to 28, met recently with other grassroots organizations In the Pacific Northwest, where they discussed such Issues as local hate groups and anti-gay legislation.

“We’re a multi-Issue organization,” said Third Wave director Sally Kohn, 24. And while Third Wave is not made up only of Jewish women, said Kohn, “we bring our identities to the larger table.”
