Girlhood (It’s Complicated)

This exhibit at the National Museum of American History in Washington D.C. reminds viewers that girlhood is not all fun and games—nor are girls “made of sugar and spice and everything nice.” Artist Krystal Quiles presents a history of the strength and significant legacies of girls who have “changed history.” The exhibit tells these stories through the lenses of education, wellness, work, fashion and more—on view in person and online through January 2023.
