Founded to empower Jewish people of color who oftentimes find themselves alienated or sidelined by racism in majority-white Jewish institutions, Ammud allows Jewish people of color to access the Jewish education needed to be members and leaders of the broader Jewish community, creating space to celebrate marginalized customs and traditions, uncover lost histories, and (re)build culture. At Ammud, Jews of color are defined as people who are considered non-white in the U.S. by nature of their generational lineage and who identify as such (including Mizrahi and Sephardi Jews). Ammud’s classes, for Jews of Color (JOCs) by Jews of Color, are accessible online. Ammud’s next term begins October 21st, 2020. Ammud’s hope is to be in deep relationship with the community, so if you are interested in institutional collaboration contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
