Welcome Lilith’s New CEO & Editor-in-Chief

Dear Lilith Community,

I’m thrilled to share that as of March 2026, Anna Solomon, a gifted editor and writer and all-around delightful person, is taking the helm at Lilith as its new Editor-in-Chief/CEO. More details about her impressive background are in the announcement below, but I want to say how excited I am personally to know that Lilith, and all that it has made manifest over the past five decades, will be in very good hands as it heads into its next chapter.

This is a Shehechiyanu moment. I’m so grateful for all you have done to help bring us here!

I will be remaining in an advisory role and really look forward to this.

Also: we’re planning a 50th Anniversary Celebration in New York City in the fall––please stay tuned as the plans are underway! I am thrilled we can celebrate this milestone together.

Sending warm regards, and much gratitude,

Susan Weidman Schneider

After 50 years at the helm of Lilith magazine as a founding mother and Editor-in-Chief/CEO, Susan Weidman Schneider will be moving into an advisory role at the magazine this spring. Leading Lilith since it launched in 1976, Susan has broken new ground for women in Jewish life and culture, has nurtured and mentored generations of Jewish feminists, and has built Lilith into the independent, Jewish & frankly feminist icon we’ve come to know and love.

Lilith’s all-female Board of Directors is now thrilled to announce Anna Solomon as the organization’s next Editor-in-Chief/CEO. Anna, who begins her post this week, will build on Lilith’s fierce legacy of pioneering Jewish feminist journalism, activism, celebration and community—and will bring the organization exuberantly into its next half-century, which, let’s face it, will need Jewish feminism more than ever before.

Anna brings to Lilith a deep and diverse background in nonprofit communications and development, public radio journalism, teaching and mentorship. She is also the author of three acclaimed novels, most recently The Book of V., a finalist for the Sami Rohr Prize, and a two-time winner of the Pushcart Prize. Her ability to balance the creativity of a storyteller while managing the needs of a nonprofit organization, along with her proven record of pushing boundaries with nuance and care, uniquely position her to lead Lilith imaginatively and strategically into the next half-century. Through her writing, editing, coaching and teaching, she has developed trusting relationships with writers and communities across the continent. With a deep personal commitment to Lilith’s mission at the intersection of feminism and Jewish life, Anna has the combination of leadership and literary know-how to uphold Lilith’s legacy, grow its community and launch its future. Lilith partnered with DSG | Koya, a DSG Global company dedicated to mission-driven leadership, in a rigorous search process to make this match.

The Board thanks Susan for providing outstanding leadership to Lilith, and guiding it successfully through five decades of ups and downs for feminism and female leadership. They are deeply appreciative of Susan’s vision and chutzpah—and the significant legacy she has created over the past half-century.

We hope you’ll plan to join us at a very special event this fall as we mark this momentous transition, celebrate Lilith’s 50th anniversary, and honor Susan Weidman Schneider as she moves into a senior advisory role at Lilith.

In the months to come you’ll be hearing more from Lilith with announcements of events, salons, talks, special features, and other delights as we celebrate Anna’s appointment, Susan’s leadership, and Lilith’s big anniversary in Fall 2026.
