December 1: “The Gett” Lilith Night & Talkbalk

7 pm ET | Rattlestick Theater | In Person

It’s a night of theater with Lilith! On Thursday, December 1, join us for the 7 pm performance of The Gett at the Rattlestick Theater in Greenwich Village. Stay for a post-show discussion between Liba VaynbergThe Gett‘s playwright and star, and Sarah Seltzer, Lilith’s Executive Editor. Click here to receive a special ticket price for Lilith readers.

The Gett, written by Lilith contributor Liba Vaynberg, is a tale of the dirty and the divine, drawing on everything from the Torah to bad sex. It’s about the tacky menorah in your lobby behind the Christmas tree and the lover whose phone number you can’t forget and that voicemail from your mother you haven’t listened to yet. As sacred as it is profane, this is a play about recreating a self. Herself.

December 4: Jewish Feminist Poets on Belonging

6 pm ET | Lilith magazine | Virtual

Belonging is an elusive topic, perhaps especially for Jews. Yet the drive to belong remains an essential human urge—even as boundaries of self, community and place continuously evolve. On Dec. 4, 6-7 pm ET, five Jewish women poets, ages 24-84, will explore what it means to find ourselves among the shifting landscape of belonging. Join Lilith magazine, Rhiannon McGavin, Mónica Gomery, Hila Ratzabi, Joy Ladin, and Alicia Ostriker for an evening of poetry and a space where—even for just a moment— we might cultivate a feeling of belonging together.
