Poetry: The Wedding

Never attend a wedding without
an escort no matter
who he is or what he’s
really like just
make certain he is
wearing a jacket and slacks
and a clean shirt and an
appropriate tie. Dress him
yourself if you have to
remembering first to throw him
in the shower and to dash him
with English Leather so that he
smells good enough to
take anywhere.

Be there on time and
hold hands and smile at
each other content enough to
have with you a man who
stands on his own two feet just
like the man going down the aisle.
At the table of strangers you
need not speak to anyone you
have him to turn to and damn it
he smells great and that night if

you want to you may say good
night or have him stay till morning.
